BULGARIAN ORCHESTRAL EVENING WITH ANATHEMA

Anathema are very excited to announce that on 22nd September they have been invited to play ‘an orchestral evening with Anathema’. This will be a very magical occasion held in the stunning setting of an ancient roman amphitheater in Plovdiv, (the second biggest town in Bulgaria).

''A HOME FROM HOME''

Anyone who went to the Paradiso gig in Amsterdam would have to admit that the audience was absolutely fantastic. That's the biggest crowd we've ever played to in western europe and we, in turn, gave everything we could to make it a special night. I think together, we made that happen.

To have sold out the Paradiso and to havens such a high position in the Dutch charts is an achievement that band and management are very grateful for and proud of.

There were so many special moments in the show, and I'm very glad that everything came together as well as it did. There were also lots lot of familiar faces in the crowd and many old friends came out to show their support.

The day started out with a nice atmosphere and even an impromptu 'aerobics' session during the (usually monotonous) drum sound check. That got things off to a good start.

After that I gathered together a fan club meeting and they were allowed in early, and then the venue started to fill up. I watched amplifier's set again and was again moved when hearing their song 'panzer' which I find a very nice track that hits the spot. A good band. Perhaps bring earplugs. They're just a little loud :-)

The venue in the end filled to capacity and we did everything we could to fill it with energy too. Thanks as I say to a brilliant audience I can safely say that we as a band feel that to be the most prestigious show we've done so far on this tour and we are delighted with the way things are going.

It was great to spend time chatting to friend after the show too, and I hope some new friendships have been made.

THE WEATHER REPORT - ANTWERP

"SPRING BLOSSOM FALLS LIKE RAIN"

Spring under a cherry blossom tree in Belgium.. and though the sun be hidden behind light cloud above, it fails not to inspire hope of a better day ahead.

Welcome to the weather report from the most peaceful spot I've found so far on tour, underneath this cherry blossom tree @Trix, Antwerp. The drifting of cherry blossom leaves upon an April breeze is one of my favourite and most captivating moments in nature. A blessing indeed and an ideal place to have a little picnic and write a report for you good folk.

Behind the excellent Trix venue lies a peaceful garden, complete with said cherry blossom and what I think are two weeping willows. Regardless of the names of these trees, it's a solace indeed to be here with coffee, fruits and a little bit of spring in the heart. Quieter moments such as these are a tonic from the intensity of some of the live performances, I suppose thanks to one thing, one can appreciate the other.

The tour is going splendidly well and the album is being received equally well too, thanks to all you good people. We are also very happy with the atmosphere between band and crew and the good work that's being done to make all this happen.

Last night was spent at a nice restaurant and then (though I went off to the hotel and missed out) a karaoke bar. Judging by the look on the faces of those that have surfaced, looks like fun was had by all. Vin looks fresh faced and full of good energy, as I've come to expect of him. Lee is in good sprits, and I've not seen the others yet.

I was thinking today about my friends in leafblade and how a setting like this is so suited to their music.. The 'portrait' album to follow soon is as sweet as a summer afternoon..

Furthermore, plans are being put in place to get back together with our invaluable and incredible musical partner, Christer Andre Cedeberg, to make more music, and the sounds being made are that we might plan something a little harder edged..

TOUR DIARY - DEUTSCHLAND

"IN DEUTSCHLAND, IN THE HEART"

Frankfurt, a special city. The city where a famous redlight district sprawls at the feet of the grand European Central Bank.. Where one of Europe's most impressive skylines can be seen for miles around.. A city where it's very pleasant to sit outside Starbucks on Große Bockenheimer straße with a tall Americano and watch the world go by.. One of my favorite pastimes here in Frankfurt.. A bit of Retail therapy today, breakfast and city centre shopping, very pleasant.

Last night in Köln was great, we worked hard to get everyone in the room on our side and it paid off. Nice to see the audiences growing too.. And to hear positive fan reactions to the new album. Met some interesting people and am enjoying mingling with the audience after each show, spending a bit of time with some good characters.

The road crew on this tour are almost all new to us and they have, each one of them, been fantastic. We're really grateful for their professionalism and easy going nature.
